At the risk of turning this once diverse feature into “Why Mitt Romney Sucks This Week,” it’s yet another week in the presidential campaign (as it will be for the next nine months) and disappointingly brings another fuck-up from the Mitt Romney campaign. [With a candidate like this it really speaks to how unpopular Gingrich and Santorum are to be losing to him.]
This week’s screw-up into what SHOULD have been a great moment for the Romney campaign came when he was actually giving his victory speech in Florida. That’s right, apparently Romney has gotten tired of waiting a whole day to squander his momentum and has decided to start doing it during the actual celebrations.
Anyway, he was asked about poor people and he said flat out that he “Doesn’t think about poor people.” Since this is usually the kind of thing that reporters only pray they can catch candidates saying, when he was pressed to clarify he did clarify and actually made it even worse. He said that he doesn’t think much about poor people because they have a “safety net” that will allow them to be alright, and if other people want to think about the very poor then they can but “he’s not going to.”
So once again we have the 250 million dollar corporate raider with money stashed out in the Cayman Islands who mostly only donates to the Mormon church if he gives anything in charity saying EXACTLY what his campaign has told him not to. Yet another week goes on where the perception on Romney is that he’s rich, horribly unsympathetic to people that aren’t, has no idea what most people are going through in this economy, and, ultimately, that he doesn’t even care.
The Romney campaign’s biggest weakness is the candidate’s coldness, his defensiveness if anyone questions his well-off lifestyle, and his brazen dismissal of anyone who’s poor. So naturally he counters that perception by making comments about how he loves to fire people (a month ago) and how he doesn’t even think about poor people nor makes apologies for it. At the risk of sounding like a broken record: what’s wrong this man? And more importantly, what’s wrong with voters who stipulate their biggest problems with Romney are healthcare plans and his Mormonism instead of the pretty obvious truth that he’s a greedy, type-A asshole with zero people skills or relatable human trademarks.
Romney DOES NOT need to be president any more that the DONALD needed it. Why can’t people see that people who work for what they have make better leaders. Obama was given and he is a self made man. LOOK around before you vote for the wonderfully rich. THE RICH only want to get richer and they don’t care about the country as a whole. WAKE UP!
