At this point, those of us desperate enough to stop Trump from becoming the 45th President of the United States—and we are legion—are focusing on getting the electorale college to vote for Hillary when they certify the results in December. Now it’s true that this has never happened before, but there’s plenty of good reason it should happen this time.
To name but a few reasons: 1. Hillary is on track to get more than 2 million more votes than him. The other four times the electorale college and popular vote have been different they have never been this different. If you add up the votes Hillary would’ve needed to win Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, it’s not even 10% of what she beats Trump by in the popular vote. 2. Trump is apparently not going to live at The White House full-time, and Melania (the first lady) is going to stay in NYC which will lead to huge traffic jams and expenses to protect her there, as well as further ethical conflicts of the President living in a residential building he owns. Does America really want a part-time President? 3. There are massive voting irregularities in those swing states Hillary narrowly lost, and experts are screaming for “Audit” of the vote to make sure Russian hackers didn’t tip the scales there. 4. Trump is already facing huge ethical conflicts and it’s clear he won’t fully divest from his business even as President, setting America up for a massive corruption scandal and torturous impeachment trial.
But what would it take for the electorale college to actually flip the results? The most likely scenarios…
1. Trump tells them to. Now to be fair, this is not likely at all. Would Donald Trump ever voluntarily admit that he’s unfit to be President or that he’s in over his head? Never, so we’ll probably have to hope for option two…
2. It’s discovered Russia hacked the election. At this point, this appears to be the most likely reason and best shot at getting the electorale college to do the right thing. There’s no question Putin’s henchmen hacked the DNC and Hillary’s emails, and now the only doubt is if they actually hacked the vote in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania or a combination. This would have to lead to either a revote or just putting the electorale college in line with the candidate who’s already won the popular vote.
3. Ivanka reveals Donald raped her. This one is really “a massive scandal” but we have already seen so many scandals just since Trump won and before he even takes office—his campaign had contact with the Kremlin, KKK is openly holding rallies in his name that Trump has not exactly been forceful against, he’s settled a lawsuit against Trump University for $25 million, the dozens of conflicts between his business dealings and the office of Presidency (like taking Ivanka to a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister and promoting Trump Tower as the place he lives during the weekends). This is in the last two weeks. I’m not sure what it would take for Trump to actually alienate the electors but the closest I can think of is an outright rape (rather than just audio of implied sexual groping) revealed by his own daughter for an extra-incest yuk-factor.
In closing: So barring a massive sex scandal (possible), discovery of Russia hacks (probable, but will it be in time?), or Trump firing himself (never), it looks like we’ll be stuck with what’s already shaping up to be the most corrupt administration since Warren G. Harding. Lucky us…
But in the meantime, keep up the pressure to Audit the Vote!
