Sorry our country elected Donald Trump.
Sorry that “Thanksgiving” may be the last Thursday of the month, but “Sorry Day” is now the first Tuesday of it.
Sorry America still has the electoral college system.
Sorry that even though not one President from after 1888 to before 2000 lost the popular vote but won the electoral college (112 years without it happening once), we’ve now had it happen TWICE in the last sixteen years.
Sorry that America is apparently STILL not on board with a woman President.
Sorry that the media keeps perpetuating the lie that Hillary was a weak candidate, rather than owning their part in portraying her as a weak candidate.
Sorry that James Comey exists as a human being on this planet.
Sorry that Obama’s attempts at bi-partisanship by having a Republican FBI director backfired big time.
Sorry that more Republicans who KNEW Donald Trump wasn’t fit to be POTUS did not speak up.
Sorry that Paul Ryan is a human windsock, blowing whichever way seems best or that people honestly think he cares about the country with or without Trump in the equation.
Sorry that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump exist, and for all the endangered African animals they’ve killed in a rich-kid safari they think is hunting.
Sorry that Donald Trump said he understands black voters because he too “has faced a rigged system.”
Sorry that he’ll make black people’s lives worse in countless ways including his plan for the inner-cities which puts heavy emphasis on “foreign investment” meaning gentrification on steroids…
Sorry that Hillary didn’t bring out the black vote the way Obama did OR that people really expected that she would.
Sorry that even though Trump did everything short of burn an effigy of Pancho Villa on-stage, he still managed to win 32% of the Latino vote.
Sorry that people seem to be erroneously saying this is because of Cubans/Puerto Ricans instead of facing the fact that a lot of Mexican and Central Americans just flat didn’t mind voting for a candidate that ran a whole campaign against them.
Sorry that the Latinos that did vote weren’t as many as they were in 2012.
Sorry that FIFTY TWO PERCENT OF WHITE WOMEN DID NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY.
Sorry that when faced with a choice between a candidate who “grabs women by the pussy” and the first female President, a slim majority of white women thought “Trump.”
Sorry that a substantial minority of WOMEN still think a woman should not be President.
Sorry that nobody listened to Michael Moore when he correctly predicted Trump’s strategy of targeting the Rust belt of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Sorry that we listened to the pundits, who know nothing, who might literally say “Hillary’s a lock to win” and then act like they saw it coming when Trump wins.
Sorry that pollsters laughed off the idea that Trump could win Wisconsin and Michigan.
Sorry that people kept thinking Florida being a “diverse state” would translate to a Hillary win.
Sorry that Florida wasn’t recounted immediately instead of forfeited.
Sorry that I wasn’t louder in my opposition to Tim Kaine as runningmate and I had pushed harder for Al Franken, who MIGHT have helped win some of that upper Rust Belt…might…
Sorry that young girls will take away the wrong message from Hillary losing to a man who got paid to judge women.
Sorry that more young women of voting age choose not to do so.
Sorry that millennials who are now protesting Trump did not choose to vote against him when they had the chance.
Sorry that a neo-fascist like Rudy Guiliani will likely be given an extremely important position like Attorney General or Homeland Security czar.
Sorry that embarassments like Newt Gingrich or Jeff Sessions will likely be showcased on the world stage in jobs like Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense.
Sorry that out of all the names flying around for Trump’s cabinet, NONE of them are women.
Sorry that the majority of American women who voted for Trump seemingly don’t care about this.
Sorry that Trump became the first Presidential candidate in half a century to not disclose his taxes…and people seemingly didn’t care.
Sorry that so many Americans hate immigrants, and even if Trump doesn’t really his fans definitely do.
Sorry that Russia will likely get everything they want for four years including a reduced role for the United States on the world stage.
Sorry that Trump’s campaign had regular contact with the Kremlin and the media didn’t care to reveal this until AFTER the election.
Sorry that a majority of the American military went big for Trump, a man who is “an unwitting Russian sleeper agent” and pawn of Vladimir Putin.
Sorry that the mere idea of a female Commander-in-Chief had American soldiers willing to vote for a man endorsed by Kim Jung Un and Vladimir Putin.
Sorry that Julian Assange is probably smiling somewhere.
Sorry that the media investigated Hillary’s emails 100X more than Russia/Wikileaks backing Trump.
Sorry that they actually aired the DNC’s hacked emails without ever questioning why the hacks were only being done on the Democratic side.
Sorry that Bernie Sanders stayed in the race so long, and essentially gave the Trump campaign their narrative of Clinton as a “Wall Street puppet who’ll do anything for cash and military power.”
Sorry that the blame has been pointed at literally everyone EXCEPT Bernie Sanders and his coalition, at least a quarter of whom said they voted for Trump.
Sorry that people are really stupid enough to believe Trump will “fight for the little guy over big money interests” right after watching him brag during debates that he IS big money interests.
Sorry that a President of the United States has not paid taxes for twenty years, bragged about it, and people seemingly are okay with that.
Sorry that Democrats didn’t win the Senate, didn’t make real gains in the House, and will now lose out to filling Scalia’s seat with Merrick Garland.
Sorry that Trump will lead a party that controls all three branches of government, the FBI (as evidenced by Comey), the Justice Department and the Homeland Security appartus, more than two-thirds of state legislatures and Governor’s mansions. What could possibly go wrong with giving a man like Trump that much power?
Sorry that the real power behind Trump’s White House will likely be Mike Pence, who is a faux-gentlemanly fascist that is actually more dangerous than Trump himself because he looks more respectable.
Sorry that Trump doesn’t drink, but everyone he comes into contact with does.
Sorry that the education department will probably get gutted, including Common Core which keeps states like Alabama from falling even further behind the blue states.
Sorry that Trump’s red-state base will likely lose even more than the blue states as their state governments won’t step in to help them at all.
Sorry that “Obamacare” will likely be gutted and millions of people could lose their healthcare.
Sorry that we now have a President who thinks climate crisis is a hoax perpetuated by China.
Sorry that China is likely thrilled to have such a stupid President so they can occupy even more of the world stage.
Sorry that Trump has a stake in the Keystone Pipeline, so we’ll likely see that.
Sorry that we’ll have a President in the back pocket of the fossil fuel industries and any progress Obama has made on climate change will be thrown out the window.
Sorry that even though Obama has largely destroyed the ISIS caliphate, Trump will take credit for it.
Sorry that Americans will now see what it’s like to have (as Trevor Noah put it) “an African President” that is trying to make financial gain the whole time he’s in office.
Sorry that I was rooting for Trump to be the Republican nominee SOLELY because I thought he’d be the easiest for Hillary to beat.
Sorry that I didn’t take the Trump threat seriously enough.
BUT most of all…
Sorry that my blog, YouTube Channel, and Podcast doesn’t receive the traffic to make a big difference in an election. And I’m really sorry that I don’t have the platform of Noah, John Oliver, Samatha Bee, etc. who think the anti-immigrant crowd really care what they think.
Do I stand a much better chance of getting through to a Trump voter? Absolutely, but good luck convincing a TV executive of that.
