Petty Issues Week 1

Jewelry companies have advertised 400 times more than usual in the run up to Valentine’s Day. Why don’t they just show a picture of an angry girlfriend opening a box of candy with the tag line “Our advertising is designed to make her disappointed?” I wonder if alcohol commercials will increase around St. Patrick’s Day…

Of course I’m looking forward to The Dark Knight Rises but am a little disappointed in the casting of the villains. I had heard Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin which would have been great, and even though I like Anne Hathaway I’m not sure she’ll erase Halle Berry in a Catwoman suit from my mind. I would have probably gone with Rosario Dawson.

Quote of the week comes from Parks and Recreation’s Tom after a break up “My girlfriend broke up with me. She didn’t really give a reason but luckily when you’re a guy you can always say it’s because she’s crazy. ‘What you and Lucy broke up?’ ‘Yeah, turns out she’s crazy.’”

Asshole of the week: Donald Rumsfeld says his biggest regret was not quitting after the Iraqi torture scandals. My biggest regret is that he took the job in the first place. Republicans from Lindsey Graham to John McCain say he was the sorriest Secretary of Defense ever but he maintains he did a good job?

Asshole of the week Runner-Up: Whoever keeps peeing on the men’s toilet seats in public bathrooms. I wish I could catch this serial urinator making a yellow Jackson Pollack on a toilet I’m about to use and make it to where he never gets to pee standing up again.
