Why didn’t I make a Petty Issues list sooner? I don’t know. Maybe I thought the world would end and I wouldn’t have to fool with it. Anyway…
Tim Tebow to be traded to the Jaguars. “Finally, the worst quarterback in the NFL is on the worst team in the NFL!”—–says, no one. This will realllllly goose those ticket sales.
Facebook wants to start charging you a dollar to message people you aren’t friends with, “That’s a great idea!” says no one. [Damn, I’ve already used that joke once in this post.] “Should be a great way to increase the horrific, free-falling stock price and finally squeeze revenue out of this worthless business model!” says no one…damn, I did it again.
Almost no one is satisfied with The Hobbit’s abrupt ending, and the fact that a 300 page book is being stretched into a 3-part, 9-hour movie, and yet the film broke December box office records…Which do you think means more to a studio executive: your personal happiness with a finished product or ticket sales? [I’m predicting a special bonus-fourth film stretched out of this shit.]
John Kerry has been tapped to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. I have no idea if this is a good pick or a bad pick, I don’t personally have much of an opinion one way or the other, and I’m a little bored with the selection frankly. Which, I guess, is exactly the point, and probably makes him a great choice.
Asshole of the Week: TNT for abruptly canceling their show Leverage after five seasons, offering no final episode, and (damn this is cold) the unknowing series finale airing on Christmas Day. I never liked the show Leverage, have seen only a couple episodes (it’s too frivolous and far-fetched), and it felt like it had been on for waaaaay longer than five seasons, so that’s a sure sign a show is stale. But to have one of your longest running shows get the boot without so much as a final episode…and then to have the last original one air on Christmas Day? Cold TNT, very cold, I know who’s the Grinch this Christmas.
