I’ve been noticing two big stories in the last week: Ted Cruz’s growing sex scandal and the media’s outright refusal to talk about it. A few people I know have even said “There’s a Ted Cruz sex scandal?” And these are people that regularly watch the news.
For those that don’t know—-and given the media’s reluctance to cover this, I wouldn’t blame you for not knowing—-The National Enquirer has written stories that Cruz has had affairs with at least five women, and now a separate story about a Washington DC madam who apparently has proof Cruz has used her prostitutes. The very few mentions this story gets in the media seem to be dismissive or—even worse—defensive. Tones like “Well, how can you believe The National Enquirer?”
It’s a good question since The National Enquirer is not exactly synonmous with a credible news source, but it’s also worth noting that an increasingly wayward media hasn’t exactly been much better this campaign cycle. Nor is it good journalism to simply dismiss a The National Enquirer story solely because it comes from them. In fact, this seems to be the only sex scandal the media won’t cover. [As embarrassing as Alabama Governor Bentley’s sex scandal has been, why has it received more national media attention than a major presidential candidate’s?]
One of the more interesting aspects is that one of Ted’s alleged mistresses went on to be campaign manager for Carly Fiorina, and Ted gave her campaign money—inexplicably—right before the Iowa primary. Why on Earth would Ted give one of his biggest Iowa rivals money during a stage in the campaign when he should have been trying to knock her out of the race? One of the other alleged mistresses is Trump spokeswoman Katrina Piersson, and I remember being skeptical of that one solely because I believe she could do a lot better than Ted Cruz.
In fact, that may be the only reason I’m putting any resistance to this story (which I would love to be true): after all, where does Ted Cruz find five women willing to have sex with him? Now this DC madam story seems much more likely since it is theoretically plausible that a woman might not turn down good money to sleep with him. Although even imagining that much has me feeling sorry for that poor, cash-strapped woman.
Whether there is one or not he still gives me the creeps!
Me, too! I still ask why is he allowed to run.
SO can I go run in Canada?
If I have to listen to Cruz for 4 years, oh my.
What a whiner.
Wonder what he was like as a child.?
Bet he was a tattle-tail.
