Let’s just say Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t need to lose too much sleep over it. Hell, the CEO of MySpace (whoever that is) doesn’t need to lose an after-lunch nap over it…
Trump himself posted there only one time before the January 6th hearings started. [Despite pretending otherwise, he seems much more obsessed with getting back on platforms that have banned him than investing real time into Truth Social.] They’ve been busted for creating fake accounts trying to artificially juice their Daily Active Users (I guess it’s bad timing for them that so many Russian bots are so busy these days). And the app has plummeted since its initial popularity when it first launched only a few months ago; that initial popularity lasted about a week.
[Not to mention, their entire stated purpose has been pretty much exposed as a lie. “Truth Social” claimed to value “free speech” above all. Predictably, this hasn’t actually been the case, as several accounts were banned for even attempting to talk about the January 6th hearings. It’s almost as if Republicans aren’t interested in “free speech,” so much as controlling exactly what’s said–such as DeSantis’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, “Stop WOKE Act,” book bans, and radical punishment of Disney over a mild disagreement to one of his bills.]
But I’m shocked at this. I mean, Trump told us it would be huge. After all, this is a man who’s never had failure before…unless you count…
—Trump Ice
—Trump magazine
—Trump steaks
—Trump airlines
—Trump vodka
—GoTrump (his travel website)
—A charity that was disbanded for fraud
—A university that was disbanded for fraud
—A shady mortgage company (Trump Mortgage…closed right before the 2008 bubble burst)
—Three separate casino bankruptcies (a business it doesn’t seem possible to bankrupt on)
—Trump energy drink (an energy drink marketed to Palestinians…I’m not kidding)
—Donald Trump the Fragrance (Again…I’m not kidding)
—Being the first President since Benjamin Harrison to lose back-to-back popular votes, and the first one in history to be impeached twice, and also the first one in history to receive votes from his own party (BOTH times…hat trick)
—And a blog he started and discontinued only last year…which itself lasted about a month…
Gee, it’s almost like this guy’s not a very good investment or something. If you didn’t know any better, you’d almost think he was completely and totally full of shit and will backstab literally anyone who has the misfortune to get close to him (like withdrawing his Mo Brooks endorsement for the senate, and recently dumping on Bill Barr, Mike Pence, John Kelly, and pretty much anyone else who’s ever worked for him).
In no time at all, Trump will become “frustrated” with Truth Social’s poor performance, blame the whole thing on Devin Nunes (who he wooed out of his congressional seat to become CEO of Truth Social), and that’ll be the 4,000th person who started off as a Trump toadie that he’s thrown under the bus.
