Today I’d like to talk about Charlie Sheen. I’m just fucking with you, I’d like to talk about poor people in third world countries…ha, and you thought today was going to be fun!
No, I’d like to speak of the real Bumblefucks out there: third world nations and the news media that doesn’t care about them (unless it’s Libya and they’re desperately covering that to avoid covering the Wisconsin protesters). Sure, the news might cover them if Angelina Jolie pays a visit—which she is more likely to do there than in Wisconsin but that’s another story—but by and large it doesn’t get more invisible than a continent like Africa, which is why I’m proud to announce my interview this Friday with a successful businessman from the Ivory Coast (currently going through some major tension).
In the meantime perhaps you could watch these great documentaries on Netflix that cover people even worse off than the Bumblefuck backwoods of rural Alabama:
South of the Border: Olive Stone’s documentary about the revolution that happened in South America, replacing fascism with left leaning governments.
The End of Poverty: This film is even better. It basically details third world African countries struggles with the IMF and World Bank who more or less act as third world loan sharks. Giving third world countries loans they can never repay, and using their natural resources as repayment.
Whenever I hear people complain about the foreign aid we give poor countries, I don’t think they realize that money isn’t given most of the time. It is usually given so we can get back ten times more lucrative natural resources.
Definitely, what a magnificent site and instructive posts, I will bookmark your site.Best Regards!
