Today is about crime and poverty. I’ll keep it short because nobody ever reads about it anyway. Recently US News published a list of the 11 most crime infested cities in the country and although you might expect to find perennial blue state hellholes like Baltimore and Detroit on the list, and even though they are there, the majority of the list are red state cities. With the possible exclusion of Miami, nearly every other city on this list is in a Southern or Midwestern red state city and a more rural area city. [I’d like to throw a shout out to my city of Birmingham ranking a respectably hellish number 3] When even the home of Mickey Mouse (Orlando, tied with Birmingham for number 3) is dangerous, can we make the claim that red state cities are more dangerous than blue state? Probably because people in them generally have less money or educational opportunities?
