Today I want to talk about natural gas drilling. Most people think of domestic, natural gas drilling as a positive step towards energy independence and ditching America’s foreign oil addiction. Most people would be wrong.
I could write a book about how natural gas drilling is bad for people—from poisoning the ground with hexa-chromium 3, a cancer causing chemical to that same chemical winding up in our drinking water—but I will instead recommend people to watch GasLand instead. GasLand is nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar and pretty thoroughly covers the side effects of natural gas drilling, not just to the environment or animals but to people. Rural areas are much more heavily targeted for their natural gas so I think it’s an issue people should be informed on before agreeing to let a company drill for natural gas in their community.
The NetFlix blurb about this movie “In this documentary, director Josh Fox journeys across America to examine the negative effects of natural-gas drilling, from poisoned water sources to kitchen sinks that burst into flame to unhealthy animals and people.” That’s right, sinks that catch on fire. Who needs to pay to watch an action movie in the theater when you can just let a natural gas drilling company give you cancer and turn your waterlines into gas pipelines?
Pass the message! Americans needs to wake up to the effects of natural gas drilling. Its imperative that we seek alternative energy options NOW!
True story, a buddy of mine’s entire family got cancer after a NEIGHBOR agreed to let them drill for natural gas on their land. They didn’t even receive one cent but the chemicals seeped into the entire area’s ground
we need to stop our dependence on oil period … the resources are just about depleted , they’re are eco friendly alternatives to energy …such technology has been introduced but get little to no backing financially b/c there’s no profit to be gained …wind, solar & hydro technology need to be utilized for a sustainable future !
i always had mixed feelings about natural gas drilling but i’ll watch the documentary to see what’s up
Hello. magnificent job. I did not anticipate this. This is a fantastic story. Thanks!
