Proving that people will make a controversy out of literally anything, Karl Rove took a big dump on Chrysler’s PRO-America ad yesterday and there were plenty of Faux News morons to back him up.
For those that aren’t familiar with the contents of the ad, it featured life-long Republican Clint Eastwood talking for roughly two minutes about how Chrysler is making a big comeback this year, and pontificating on how it’s halftime for all of America. The general message is that people can either choose to lay down and quit or rally and conquer. It was an inspiring ad with absolutely ZERO political bias or partisan message.
So naturally Rove (fully living up to his nickname of Turd Blossom) found a way to make it political and partisan. He took the ad’s meaning as Pro-Obama merely because the ad is pro-American, pro-Chrysler, and pro-comeback. All the ad was trying to say was that an entire country can make a comeback just like a left-for-dead car company can, and somehow he took that as an endorsement for Obama, because, you know, Obama bailed out Chrysler.
Now I guess Rove didn’t bother with the fact that Eastwood said the ad had no political lean whatsoever nor the fact that Eastwood is a Republican who doesn’t endorse Obama. It also didn’t seem to bother Rove that nothing in the actual ad seems political except for the decidedly pro-American message. And I guess it really never occurred to him that the first bailout for the auto industry came from GEORGE W. BUSH, Rove’s boss and puppet for the last couple decades. [Plus, ads like this are common for Chrysler as they ran a similar one with Eminem last year.]
So what is this shit? Why ignore that his man Bush was the one who started the auto-industry bailout? Why ignore that the bailout worked and Chrysler survived in a time when America needs all the jobs it can get? And why take stupid potshots at American legend Eastwood, American legend Chrysler, and America’s rebounding economy? Is Rove really so petty he would root for an American company to fail, Americans to lose their jobs, and the unemployment/poverty rate to raise all to make Obama look bad? Yes, yes, and hell yes, and as an American I’m embarrassed by the comments and repeated actions of the man who used to have such a high ranking position in our government.
