The site was started on February 7th, 2011, and I’m a proud father again today as we enter the third year.
I won’t get overly nostalgic, but it is worth pointing out. Honestly, it’s survived a lot longer than most blogs, and two full years is especially unusual for small, independent political blogs.
Small political blogs are usually done in after half a year, that’s the point where people usually lose interest and get frustrated that they haven’t become the next Huffington Post. If people get on the internet to fuck around looking at pictures of things, then that usually goes double for blogs.
The only truly successful one-man/woman blogs usually have a ton of pictures (as you can see, this blog is stubbornly resistant to this newfangled fad of “photographic images”), a ton of overly confessional videos (the day I cry into a webcam monologue is the day I want somebody to shoot me), or cater to an interest so specific that it creates a real passion among the readers. If people were as passionate about politics as they are cat figurines or obscure bands or 70’s fashions I’d probably be a lot richer…oh, and, uhhhh, yeah, the country would be a better place too.
Anyway, the site has survived the two-year mark, which already puts it past 9/10ths of the blogs out there. Now if I could just get enough traffic to make it a full time job, that would put the site past 99999/100000ths of the blogs out there.
Happy Birthday – looking forward to more hilarious interview’s and petty issues.
Congratulations !!
Love this blog. Keep up the good work.
