The Supreme Cult’s current reign of terror can’t end fast enough. The conservative majority has certainly been “on a roll” the past few weeks, continually proving they’re the most pro-robber baron SCOTUS in a century (and sometimes with Judge Elena Kagan’s help).
–Their economic rulings appear to be “Whatever Goliath asks for in his inspirational quest to finally defeat David—give it to him.” Their pro-business bent is so obvious, they make Robert Bork look like Bernie Sanders.
–Their social rulings appear to be less about the law, commonsense, or even morality so much as hyper-Catholic conformity from a century not even the current Pope (nor recently deceased one) lives in. The Supreme Inquisition is closer to what they are now.
–And when it comes to rulings like civil rights and immigration? Their robes should be white and come with hoods instead of the current black ones with visible faces. Although, Neil Gorsuch’s smug “good old boy” smirk would look right at home with some tobacco in it, and a Southern sheriff’s badge not far underneath it.
Deportation is never a pleasant process, but it is supposed to be a legal one. The entire point as Trumpers have told us in their Germany-in-the-1930’s “Show me your papers!” outrage towards illegal immigration is that it’s not legal…But neither is “deporting” people to a prison in a country they are not from, and have no business being in.
That is rendition as immigration policy. The War on Terror tool used for those connected to terrorism (sometimes very nebulously) is now being used to snatch people from this country and put them in prison in a foreign country they don’t belong, which is so ironic, the irony police should be arresting ICE agents who facilitate this insanity.
It is the opposite of Trump’s cult’s legal purism towards immigration policy. “These people don’t belong here! They did not enter legally! They have no business being here…Wait, you want to force them back to a different country where they don’t belong? That’s fine.” The hypocrisy is astounding. About the only bright spot in this very dark cloud is that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is abandoning the toothless institutionalism of pretending her colleagues aren’t awful and corrupt, actually calling out some of their disgusting rulings for what they are which liberal justices too often aren’t willing to do.
