Feeling patriotic due to the 4th of July, Alabama Liberal talks about voting rights and disenfranchisement, and argues that a democracy is only as good as its voter turnout and/or access. Also, in this episode he notes the tension between democracy and “the economy,” as well as demographic differences in the average American voter vs the average American. Around the middle of the episode, he explores just how hard it is to get anything done in a country where the deck is stacked against the majority at almost every level such as the Electoral College, two senators per state regardless of population, gerrymandering, the filibuster, amendments ratified by two-thirds of states, and the little known workings of state legislatures.

Great article. Things that need to be said are said here. Everyone deserves a vote no matter race, financial, living place, etc.
If people don’t start paying attention to life and get their head out of their ass (phone, fake news) we won’t have a democracy left. Good article.
