Is there anyone out there who truly thinks “Bucky Larson: Porn Star” is going to be a good movie? Not a guilty pleasure but a truly GOOD movie? If so, let me have your name and address so I can get social services to take your kids away.
The new Fall season should bring a lot of good movies that will be easier to tie into my site’s political theme (Ides of March, the Margaret Thatcher biopic) in a way you just don’t get with summer’s Shark Night or Fright Night or Take-Ten-Bucks-From-Yokels-Night.
There can’t be a proper liberal complaint about Obama without also realizing that the liberal base doesn’t really like ANYONE on a national level. I’ve heard them talk about Clinton like he was awful, throw away all the good LBJ did because of Vietnam, say Carter was ineffective and Hillary is a “sellout.” By contrast, Republicans love EVERYONE they have. “Bush? He’s great!” “Perry? Sure!” “A half eaten doughnut from Krispy Kreme who hates abortion and taxes? Love him!”
I don’t understand all the interest in Dick Cheney’s memoir “In My Time.” It sounds like more of the blow-everything-up-and-torture-it-mentality he’s had in other books, officially making him the world’s oldest 12 year old boy. The only book I want to read is the one where Cheney says he stuck his fist up Bush’s ass and worked him like a puppet for 8 years.
Asshole of the Week: Moderate Republicans. About once every two days, Rick Perry sticks his foot in his mouth about various issues and the response from more respectable Republicans is “This campaign isn’t going to be about [insert everything from climate crisis to whether or not a state should be allowed to declare civil war]. It’s going to be about jobs.” Why defend this idiot? They have a somewhat respectable candidate in Romney, but their fear of getting on the wrong side of the crazies won’t let them criticize Perry.
