7:00 p.m. Community is back, and Troy/Abed acknowledge the long break right off the bat.
7:01 p.m. Fred Willard as Pierce, while everyone else gets a traditional sitcom welcome.
7:02 p.m. “Here’s the deal Jessica Biel.”–Britta. Abed is having trouble coping with the fact that this is the beginning of the last year of school.
7:03 p.m. “Wishes aren’t real. You have to work hard for something or use a spell.” –Pierce, the real Chevy Chase is back.
7:04 p.m. The gang enters a class together, and it seems like Troy and Britta are now a couple. Jeff points out that they look closer.
7:05 p.m. Jim Rash is back as everyone’s favorite Dean. He says there are counterfeit cards for “The History of Ice Cream,” and not everyone can be in the class.
7:06 p.m. They have to compete for their spot in “The Hunger Deans.” Jeff reveals that he really needs this class because he’s only one credit away from graduating.
7:07 p.m. “Jeff, you’re graduating early?” “Graduating at forty can’t be classified as graduating early.”
7:08 p.m. Another flash into “Abed TV” the traditional, cheesy sitcom in Abed’s head. With Pierce Hawthorne still being played by Fred Willard…I can’t help but think Community would have a horrifically larger audience if this is how the show was all the time.
7:09 p.m. The first commercial break…Now might be a good time to point out that this episode was supposed to air back in October but NBC bumped it from the schedule at the last minute. Entertainment Weekly even had a review for the episode posted a very long time ago.
7:10 p.m. And we’re back…Dean Pelton is wearing a red dress, and the competition begins!
7:11 p.m. Jeff punches Leonard.
7:12 p.m. Another flash into Abed TV…This worked the first couple times, but now it feels like maybe they’re trying to trick Whitney’s audience into liking Community. Another side-note: The show was originally supposed to be on Friday nights after Whitney when it was supposed to premiere in October.
7:13 p.m. Annie and Shirley are in the Dean’s office, looking for his keys.
7:14 p.m. Jeff hands two of the red balls they need to get into the class to Pierce, who is desperately trying to come up with a joke about balls.
7:15 p.m. Troy and Britta have a fight about wishes in a water fountain. Once again, Troy defends his boyfriend Abed’s rules over a normal relationship with Britta.
7:16 p.m. Shirley and Annie are pouring corn kernels in the Dean’s car, and using mirrors to pop them. Annie is freaking out about graduating and mostly talking to herself. “This isn’t a conversation is it?”–Shirley
7:17 p.m. Jeff is very close to getting another ball, and the Dean tells him he’ll have to compete in a tango competition next. Jeff picks the Dean as his partner.
7:18 p.m. “I have a theory Dean, I don’t think you want me to graduate.”–Jeff. He and Dean are having a duel of minds as they tango.
7:19 p.m. Jeff wins another ball from the tango competition. He only needs one more ball, having already won six.
7:20 p.m. Now Abed’s internal sitcom morphs into “Greendale Babies,” a saturday morning animated show for preschool aged children.
7:21 p.m. “Greendale babies will be right back.” Another commercial…
7:22 p.m. A commercial for Community’s 3rd season DVD, highly recommended…
7:23 p.m. “Gay balls! Nailed it!”–Pierce, definitely not nailing it.
7:24 p.m. Britta says that she told Abed to go to a happy place, and that’s why he’s entirely inside his own head this episode…as with most episodes. Sometimes the Abed-stuff is beyond tired.
7:25 p.m. All of the Greendale Gang winds up in Abed’s animated children’s show. Jeff gives a great speech (only inside Abed’s head) telling Abed not to be scared. He leaves the animated kid’s show, then leaves the traditional sitcom, and then shows up in the “real world.” “Great speech Jeff.” “I didn’t say anything, I literally just showed up.”
7:26 p.m. Jeff loses the competition…
7:27 p.m. BUT the Dean reveals that they will be offering another history class. “And not because we’ll lose like 40,000 dollars in grant money if we don’t offer a real history class.” AND he reveals that he bought the condo next to Jeff. “I got the DVD Friends with Benefits, no subtext there.”
7:28 p.m. We get our first glimpse of the notorious Chang, he’s naked, shivering wet, and walks up to a postman with a hand-written note. “My name is Kevin, and I have Chang-nesia.”
7:29 p.m. Final commercial break.
7:30 p.m. The last segment of Abed TV, with Abed and Troy dressed in drag. AND that’s it…
