Spending two hours with this film would be too long. [A three-point pun shot.] There’s really not much to it other than America’s Next Top Model’s most successful contestant e-v-e-r (Annaleigh Tipton) going over to Miles Teller’s apartment for what’s supposed to be a one night stand, but getting snowed in for two nights because of a blizzard. It’s a movie essentially about killing time, and that’s about as exciting in practice as it is in theory. The likable Teller does everything he can with the material, but the connection between them never really deepens, and I remained skeptical that he would really fall for her…
She’s bitter over an aborted engagement, admits that she didn’t really learn anything in college because she just wanted an M.R.S. degree and has no job, no money, no place of her own to live, but is still snotty and dismissive towards him practically the entire movie. [Between this and the quickly cancelled TV show “Manhattan Love Story,” Tipton is becoming the go-to actress for newly single, struggling heroines that live on their best friend’s couch.] This is one of those cases where a happy ending would be Teller running as fast as he can towards someone else.
