I’m definitely not surprised the “engagement” between Kimberly Guilfoyle and Don Jr. is over now that the election is over. In fact, I was predicting it all along…
For a while now, I’ve maintained that Don Jr. was only “engaged” to her because they were worried about Gavin Newsom being the 2024 nominee, and needed Guilfoyle (Newsom’s first wife during what I can only imagine was a period of temporary insanity) at the ready to smear him with something baseless. There might’ve been an email or voicemail or recording or nude pick or something she had on Newsom—they were married and your spouse knows you as well as any person does.
Plus, she’d surely allege some type of “abuse” or whatever. Even if the majority of Americans would be too smart to fall for it, the Democratic Party has painted itself into the corner of investigating all abuse allegations no matter how meritless (just ask Al Franken). If even a small fraction of swing voters believed Guilfoyle’s lies enough to stay home or–worse–vote for the “abuser you know” in Trump, that would’ve been enough to swing the election, especially given the abbreviated timeline Newsom would’ve had to run on if Biden were forced out at the last moment, no different than Kamala’s herculean performance during her 100 day campaign.
Anyone who knows Trump’s loooong history of dirty smears and coercion knows this is absolutely something he would’ve anticipated doing. The same way he was actively fishing for dirt on Biden before the Democratic primaries even started (the phone calls leading to the first impeachment were in July 2019, and he’d been looking even before then).
Since Trump never has to worry about running against Newsom, Don Jr.’s years-long “engagement” can pretend to stop being real. Now, the Trump family can continue doing what they do best: exiling women over 50 to complete irrelevance in a land faaaar away from them. [I laughed out loud when hearing Guilfoyle was being appointed ambassador to Greece.]
And if you’re thinking “Would Don Jr. really be so pathetic as to date and then fake an engagement to a woman just in the off chance his dad needed political leverage against a possible election opponent?” Yes, yes he would be. After all, that story wouldn’t be more pathetic than the rumor going around that Don Jr. wanted somebody who “dressed better” than Guilfoyle so his dad would be more impressed. Yikes…
