First, a tornado shreds up the state. Then, Rick Santorum comes. Coincidence?
Anyway, today is the Alabama (and Mississippi) primary. Few people think it’s even remotely possible for Mitt Romney to win…and everyone knows it won’t matter.
Romney will lose the South, but win the race. He now has a third of the delegates he needs to win, and Rick Santorum would have to win SEVENTY FIVE percent of the delegates that are left. It’s a tall order, and an even taller one considering that Gingrich is still in this race for some reason. [In fact, it’s conceivable he places second in Alabama and Mississippi or maybe even wins one of them.]
Speaking to everyone I know in Alabama, I don’t know a soul who likes Romney. [Soul, get it? Mormon pun? Alright enough.] The majority who vote Republican, vastly prefer Santorum’s brand of self-righteous bullshit to Romney’s fiscal delusions, the moderates don’t like Romney’s “1 percent” background, and the ones who lean blue might lean towards Romney but they’re voting for Obama anyway, so it doesn’t matter.
So Alabama will vote, and vote wrong. But hey, what would an election be if Alabama weren’t on the losing side of it.
