I was surprised at how terrible this movie is. Since the first “Crouching Tiger” movie came out more than 15 years ago, you would probably think a “sequel” would either have to be 1. So good that it justified a sequel OR 2. An obvious cash-register raider just trying to milk a dead franchise. Well, you can probably guess which one of those options this one is…
What Works: Some of the fight scenes are pretty good…
What Doesn’t: But so what? Good martial arts fights can be found readily in “Marco Polo” or “Into the Badlands” and their fights are actually a lot better and more original. [I didn’t know I’d ever wanted to see a naked model to sword fights until “Marco Polo” featured it.] And the plot is near-incomprehensible.
What I Would Have Done Differently: 99% of Americans who’ll see this movie will do so for virtually free on Netflix, so I can’t say it’s a waste of their money. Now their time on the other hand…
Never seen this movie but I would like to see this movie.
